Over the past couple weeks in e9 class we have been working on a house animation project. We were asked to look up house plans from the internet on houseplans.com. It was something that gave me a challenge but I felt satisfied when I was done. Overall the process long however, I feel like I gained some animation skills along the way.
The whole project took a while but we did some preparation first. We did some sketchy tutorials which taught us the most efficient ways to make basic house parts like roofs and stairs. It also taught us how to combine basic shapes. The actual project part of sketchup involved picking out the house we wanted. I picked a country style house with marble pillars that I really liked. I thought the house was really unique and looked different from most houses nowadays. I knew with all the parts involved for a beginner like me it probably would've been smarter to go with a simpler model. Everything is 20/20 in the rearview I guess and while I a have a few regrets I feel like I did a decent job.
In conclusion, I feel like choosing a different house to start would've been smart. Sometimes I got too frustrated and felt like I didn't want to deal with the project at hand. I always came back to it and tried my hardest but I feel like I wasn't in the right mindset sometimes. I like how I experimented with different shapes to complete the house. I also like the time of marble I put on the pillars to make them look real. I thought the project was a challenge that ended up making me better at animation and drawing in the end.
